About
Smash BJJ Kids Martial Arts offers Kids Jiu-Jitsu classes that use Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a tool to incorporate physical, mental, and verbal self-defense along with character development. The program includes age-specific and ability-specific kids options such as Little Dragons, Children’s BJJ, and Teen BJJ, as well as related activities at the same academy like Adult BJJ, Gi Jiu Jitsu, no-Gi Jiu Jitsu, Boxing, and Martial Arts Summer Camps.
• Ages: 3–14 years old
The Little Dragons class for ages 3 to 5 years old is structured as play sessions that teach Jiu-Jitsu through games. The Children’s BJJ program for ages 6 to 9 years old teaches self-defense, strength, confidence, and respect. The Teen BJJ program for ages 10 to 14 years old focuses on a Bully Prevention Program and includes techniques from the Adult Jiu-Jitsu class, and it teaches defense from physical attacks without punching or kicking, emphasizing control until help arrives. Kids Jiu-Jitsu classes are geared towards development and bully prevention, using a multi-layer approach that includes physical self-defense, mental and verbal self-defense, and character development. Kids classes are described as a smart, safe, and healthy way to promote personal safety and self-esteem, and the environment is described as safe, respectful, and fun. Summer Camps are described as high-energy fun with a blend of professional martial arts training and educational opportunities, and programs are offered for the whole family, from kids BJJ to boxing.
Here at Smash BJJ, the stated mission is to understand the importance of setting a child up for success in many different ways. Smash BJJ is described as more than just a gym and as a family with incredible support. Smash BJJ is proud to serve the communities of Spokane Valley, Spokane, and Deer Park by offering Kids Martial Arts Classes. One parent, Katie Woods, says there are not enough good things to say about the gym, the owner, the coaches, and families who attend, and that their family highly recommends this gym. Another parent, Vincent P., describes bringing a 3-year-old and 5-year-old to Smash BJJ and being blown away by the experience, with both kids fully engaged from the first class. Additional testimonials describe great people, great environment, great community, and knowledge of the game of MMA, and one student, Shawheen A., describes Adam Smith as the best BJJ instructor and coach in the Pacific Northwest.
