About

Bethel Youth Summer Programs include Vacation Bible School with the theme “Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God,” middle school and high school mission trips, special middle school outings, and several Camp Wapo options. Vacation Bible School uses a Rainforest Falls setting with wild waterfalls, towering trees, colorful creatures, and a canopy of chattering birds and howling monkeys, and is described as a lifelong adventure of discovering the nature of God and exploring what it means to be rooted in relationship with God, their creator, a safe place in life’s storms. Additional activities include a St. Paul Saints baseball game, a water park day at Cascade Bay in Eagan, and church camp experiences at Camp Wapo such as SEEDS weekend camp, a weeklong YOUTH CAMP, and a ONE DAY introduction to church camp.

Preschool Vacation Bible School participants must be age 3 by May 1, 2026 and potty trained (bathroom independent), with no exceptions. Over 100 volunteers, including adults, high schoolers, and middle schoolers, are needed for Vacation Bible School in roles such as leading a small group, games, snacks, storytelling, science, movies, decorations, and music, and it is described as a blast working together, growing closer to Christ and having fun with kids.

The Middle School Mission Trip to Lake Traverse, SD includes learning the rich history and unique challenges of the Lake Traverse Reservation community, service opportunities at local organizations, serving at local nursing homes, painting, beautification projects, minor repair projects to support local homeowners and tribal partners, learning about Dakota culture from a community friend, and exploring a state park that is significant to the local tribe. YouthWorks has partnered with the Lake Traverse Reservation community since 2005. The High School Mission Trip to Boston, MA partners with Next Step Ministries, which is described as having a long history of mission and service in the Boston area, and includes meaningful construction projects that help support organizations in the greater Boston area. Fundraising is available to help offset the cost of the High School Mission Trip, and earlier registration provides more opportunities to fundraise, and scholarships are available for both the Middle School Mission Trip and the High School Mission Trip.

Middle school events such as the St. Paul Saints Game and the Cascade Bay Waterpark day use the Bethel Bus for transportation, and participants buy their own lunch and snacks at both the baseball game and the waterpark. For the Cascade Bay Waterpark day, participants are instructed to bring a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, goggles if desired, a plastic bag for wet clothes, a water bottle, a change of clothes, and money. During Bethel Week at Camp Wapo, transportation is provided to and from camp, and Camp Wapo is described as a great place for kids to have fun, build friendships and grow closer to God, with SEEDS described as a weekend camp that is a great transition to church camp away from home, YOUTH CAMP described as a weeklong camp with lots of fun activities as a place to learn about and celebrate Jesus’ love for us and the world, and ONE DAY described as a daylong introduction to church camp that gets the youngest campers familiar with the space and activities and excited to return.

Bethel’s Youth Ministry is described as vibrant and active in the summer with events and activities for kids of all ages. Bethel supports the Hudson Backpack Program and encourages everyone to be involved whether receiving support to reduce food insecurity or volunteering to support the program, collects food for the Hudson Food Shelf in July through “Christmas in July – Reverse Advent Calendar,” and offers HOME MEAL: Hudson Outreach Meal for Everyone, described as a free community meal.
