They also do projects like making pigment from berries, working with clay from the land, making collage with found materials, harvesting and preparing remedies from the land, and tincture making.

• Schedule: Three-day camps, Monday–Wednesday, 10am–3pm, 100% outdoors (rain or shine)
• Price: $270; 10% discount for families with multiple siblings attending; tuition includes a 25% non-refundable deposit
Bluebird Hill Homestead Summer Camps is in its 15th season. The mission of the program is: “Creating opportunities for people to experience a deep connection with the land, each other, and themselves through our: Children & Adult Classes, Medicinal Herbs & Apothecary, Healing & Mentoring Sessions, Community Gatherings.” The program notes that skills such as teamwork and communication, problem-solving, patience and flexibility, self confidence, gratitude, and respect for nature are woven into the rhythm of each day. Camps have an intimate class size and are personalized to the specific strengths and challenges of each child. Families use a sliding scale scholarship fund that is available for all programs, and children bring their own lunch and snack. An Herbal Apothecary Farm Stand connected with the program is open daily year-round.
Parent and camper comments include: “This place is so beautiful. I wish I could live here!” (Greta, age 6), “This is way better than playing video games at home!” (Maia, age 8), and “My favorite part was playing the epic game of hide and seek, and my least favorite part is now because it’s time to leave.” (Elliott, age 10). One parent says, “The best thing about this camp is when the kids hop in the car and teach me all about the plants they learned that day.” Another camper shares, “The best place to paint is nature because there are so many beautiful things.”
