The camp follows a mission that combines a traditional day camp experience with the amenities and programming of a country club setting, with a structured and fun day camp described in the mission statement. KE Camps, the company behind Camp North Shore, was established in 1999.
Community involvement is built into weekly Thankful Thursday projects, which include activities such as Project Morry Relay-A-Thon, Cards for A Million Thanks, Kindness Chain for SCOPE, Alex’s Lemonade Stand, Thankful for Family, Club Appreciation Day, and Thankful for Camp, with campers working together on simple, fun community service initiatives. SMILE Bands are used at camp to acknowledge positive attributes and support camper personal growth, and weekly traditions such as Wacky Wednesdays, Thankful Thursdays, and Friday Fundays are part of the program.
Camp policies and logistics include a requirement that all campers wear the official camp shirt each day and dress in comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Families are asked to pack items in a labeled bag or backpack, including optional extra snacks, a flotation vest for non-swimmers or for use in the shallow end, required golf clubs and tennis racquet, sunscreen (spray for body preferred), swimsuit, towel, and water bottle, with any packed lunch in a cooler or backpack. The camp is described as a place to un-plug, so electronic devices and cell phones are to be left at home, and it is a “nut aware” camp where families are asked not to pack any food that contains nuts. A sibling discount of 10% tuition is available for families enrolling two siblings in the same week(s) using discount code NSSIB, and non-members must be sponsored by a Club Member to register.
