Schlitz Audubon Nature Center Youth Programs

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center Youth Programs take place at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center and are part of a comprehensive nature center that includes six miles of trails through forests, wetlands, restored prairies, ravines, bluffs, and Lake Michigan shoreline. The programs are based in the Dorothy K. Vallier Environmental Learning Center, which is a Gold LEED-certified green building. The broader center features a Raptor Program that emphasizes eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons, as well as a Birding Academy that offers in-person educational experiences that vary in learning mode, topic, and lens.

• Ages: 3–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer hours 8:30am–8:00pm Monday–Thursday and 8:30am–5:00pm Friday–Sunday; general center hours listed as daily from 8:30am–5:00pm
• Price: Admission is free for members; non-member admission is $10 for adults, $7 for ages 3–17, free for ages 2 and under, and $7 for military visitors

Schlitz Audubon Nature Center has been a place for environmental education for more than four decades, and its current building was constructed in 2003. The building was one of the nation’s most environmentally conscious Gold LEED-certified green buildings, and the center has received awards recognizing excellence across the organization. The Mezzanine Art Gallery at the center hosts the Nature’s Palette Summer Exhibition. Schlitz Audubon is an independent, locally supported partner of the National Audubon Society. The center’s mission is to conserve its land’s diverse habitats on Lake Michigan and provide meaningful experiences and environmental education for all.
