USM Summer Camps has been operating for 35 years, and families across the greater Milwaukee area have used these camps during that time. The camps are open to all families, whether or not they are already part of the University School of Milwaukee community. Discovery Camp is for children ages 3 to 5 who will be entering 3-, 4-, or 5-year-old kindergarten programs and follows a varied but structured schedule with a lead teacher and an assistant, and full-day Discovery Camp includes lunch, rest time, and afternoon enrichment activities. Explorers Camp uses hands-on activities and weekly themes, Adventure Camp includes morning classes with afternoon activities and trips to Milwaukee destinations, Odyssey Camp focuses on workshops for middle school-aged campers, Theatre Camp ends with a final showcase for friends and family, Sports Camps are for campers entering 3rd through 12th grade who have some prior experience and include varsity-level USM coaches, Skating Camp is open to all levels with no prior ice-skating experience required, and the Summer Institute for Academic Advancement allows students entering grades 9–12 to earn credit in semester- and year-long courses in a condensed summer schedule.

Lunch is included at no additional cost for all full-day campers, and families provide allergy or dietary restriction information during registration; snacks are provided for both full- and half-day campers. Families can bundle weeks in 9-week full sessions, 6-week extended sessions, or 3-week sessions and use multi-session discounts. Transportation is available with morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off options in Whitefish Bay and downtown Milwaukee, with choices of round-trip or one-way service. Registration for USM Summer Camps is handled through the school’s UltraCamp registration program.

USM Summer Camps is officially accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA), which is the only national accrediting body for camps of all types, and the program met every one of more than 200 ACA standards in safety, health, staff training, and risk management. The leadership team includes Steve Hancock as Head of School and Tom McManus as the incoming Head of School, who will become the 10th head in July 2027. The mission of University School of Milwaukee is to cultivate excellence in learning, leadership, and citizenship for prekindergarten through 12th grade students.

Parents have shared that their children are enthusiastic about the lunches, activities, counselors, and teachers at USM Summer Camps, that their children are “having a blast,” and that the mix of structured classes with unstructured play time and the counselors have been positive aspects of their experience.
