Youth Development Program

The Youth Development Program offers after school activities and homework assistance. The program includes structured time for students to work on school assignments with support.

Milwaukee Community Crossroads operates the Youth Development Program as part of its broader work in Youth Development, Violence Prevention, Community Building, Housing, Basic Needs, and Older Adult Wellness. Milwaukee Community Crossroads was founded in 1921 and has offered the Youth Development Program, including after school activities and homework assistance for children ages 6–18, since moving it to Kosciuszko Community Center in 2005. Its mission is that Milwaukee Community Crossroads cultivates a vibrant Milwaukee community by helping individuals, families and neighborhoods access basic needs, overcome barriers and connect to opportunities. The leadership team includes Terrell Johnson (Executive Director), Andrea Grittner (Director of Development and Communications), Andre Robinson (Director of Violence Prevention Programming), Song Xiong-Buck (Director of Older Adults Center), Jake Weiler (Director of Housing), and Mary Hintz (Director of Finance). Milwaukee Community Crossroads has also developed an emergency food pantry, created the Neighborhood Improvement Project that provides home repairs for low-income residents while training young people, and started the first Golden Age Club in Milwaukee and the first Elderly Nutrition Program in Milwaukee County.
