Arts Day Camp focuses on creating art, making friends, and having fun. Campers spend their time working on art projects and socializing with other participants in a relaxed setting. The program takes place during a set summer session from August 4 through August 14.

Founded in 1967, the John Michael Kohler Arts Center leads Arts Day Camp as part of its broader arts programming. Its mission is: “Our MISSION is to generate a creative exchange between artists and the public.” The leadership team includes Amy Horst (Executive Director), Doug Brusky (Director of CAPP), Ann Brusky (Deputy Director of Programming), Jim Van Alstine (Chief Financial Officer), Nancy Allison (Director of Development), Liz Kelsch (Director of Marketing), Jamie Haack (Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion), and Jodi Throckmorton (Chief Curator). The organization was awarded the 2023 Governor’s Tourism Award for Arts, Culture & Heritage. Among its program offerings are community arts projects, artist residencies, presentations of dance, film, and music, a free weekly summer concert series, classes and workshops, an onsite arts-based preschool, and approximately twelve original exhibitions of the work of self-taught and contemporary artists each year. One parent described their experience by saying, “It just felt comforting—like home.”
