Camp Shalom is a program of the Jewish Federation of Madison and is guided by Jewish values as an inclusive summer day camp for children and teens. The Jewish environment is described as welcoming to all elementary and middle school-age children, and campers of all faiths, ethnicities, and abilities safely play and learn together. Camp Shalom offers three sessions for campers going into Kindergarten through 5th grade, and Camp Shalom Noar-Bogrim (NOBO) offers two sessions for campers entering 6th through 9th grade. Camp Shalom was established in 1954 and is described as the oldest and largest day camp in Dane County, serving over 1,000 children throughout the summer. It is led by experienced and nurturing staff, including Camp Shalom Director Ellen Weismer and Camp Shalom Assistant Director and Camp Shalom Noar-Bogrim (NOBO) Director Logan Bookstaff.

Camp Shalom is part of the Jewish Federation of Madison, which provides and supports activities including Camp Shalom as part of enriching Madison Jewish life. The Jewish Federation of Madison helps support more than 20 local programs and agencies, including University of Wisconsin Hillel, Chabad at UW, Jewish Burial Association of Madison, and Jewish Social Services. Camp Shalom has a scholarship fund that provides full and partial scholarships, supported by Camp Shalom Corporate Sponsors and many other companies and individuals, and the camp reports that it has never had to deny a child a summer camp experience because of financial need.
