About
Kiddie Kampus Preschool and Daycare offers care and early education in themed rooms that include Farm 1 for children 12–17 months old, Farm 2 for children 18–24 months old, the Jungle Room for 2-year-olds, the Ocean Room for 3-year-olds, and the Forest Room 4-K Program. The program also includes an After-School Program and a separate Kiddie Kradle “Baby House” space for infants that is apart from the main building.
• Ages: 0–11 years old
Kiddie Kradle, also called the “Baby House,” is separated from the main building to create a quiet, home-like setting for infants. In Farm 1, children 12–17 months old transition with new toys, routines, foods, and friends, and in Farm 2, children 18–24 months old are in an environment guided with praise. The Jungle Room for 2-year-olds focuses on energy, curiosity, independence, and nurturing, while the Ocean Room for 3-year-olds combines kindergarten readiness activities with a stimulating, creative setting. The Forest Room 4-K Program is described as a nurturing and encouraging environment guided with praise. The After-School Program is structured to assist each child in reaching individual goals physically, mentally, and socially, and it provides care after school, during school closings, and on half days and full days in summer. After school, children are transported to the middle school where they ride the Kiddie Kampus bus, and a teacher comes to the middle school and rides to Kiddie Kampus with the children to support safety and security.
The program states that its mission is to offer a nurturing and stimulating environment with a focus on the individual child, recognizing that every child has unique needs and abilities and learns at a developmentally appropriate level. Kiddie Kampus reports that children learn how to communicate with peers and adults, including learning to respect others and to embrace cultural and physical differences, and that most learning is provided through play. The program states that it aims to enhance children’s love for learning to support success in future years of education and that it is based upon the objectives of the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS) to meet the needs of the whole child. Kiddie Kampus describes itself as a “home away from home” where children grow, learn, and play and as a community-based program offering childcare to families in Watertown and beyond.
Kiddie Kampus is identified as one of a small number of 5-Star Providers in Wisconsin’s YoungStar child care quality rating and improvement system, and the program states that it exceeds expectations in staff, quality care, safety, and educational opportunities. The program’s materials include a 2018 copyright notice for Kiddie Kampus Preschool and Daycare. A parent testimonial from Kayce Board describes Kiddie Kampus as more than just a daycare and refers to it as a second home where her child receives care along with a learning environment.
