Music & Drama Camp includes learning and rehearsing under professional musicians, theater directors, and acting coaches. Campers learn, rehearse, do group activities, and perform, including chances to rehearse with the band, sing in the camp and all-camp choirs, participate in General Music Electives, and perform in Friday concerts and play performances. Drama campers learn acting, blocking, choreography, and work on vocal training and drama techniques, and drama campers perform the musical Annie Jr.

Campers can play in advanced level ensembles and chamber groups, perform in masterclasses, and take advanced level classes on improving artistic performance skills and on developing fundamental teaching skills. The camp offers multiple tracks, including Band, Musical Drama, Piano, Strings, and Stage Crew, and drama campers audition for part placement only. The advanced piano track requires multiple audition videos, including an assigned intermediate-level piece, assigned ensemble parts, and an advanced level classical piece, and audition forms with video links are due May 12, 2027. Registration opens January 15, 2027, the early-bird rate registration deadline is April 10, 2027, and registration closes May 12, 2027. Drama campers must be age 12 by January 2026 through 2026 high school graduates.
Band campers must bring their chosen instrument, which can be rented from a store like White House of Music. Drama campers must bring all costume pieces in a labeled bag and follow specific clothing guidelines, including black shoes and clothing without visible logos, with separate detailed requirements for girls and guys, as well as nice clothes for the Friday all-camper choir concert. Piano campers should bring pencils, a notebook, solo piano music for private lessons, and a metronome.
Music & Drama Camp is connected with Maranatha Baptist University, which was established in 1968. The university’s mission statement is that it exists to develop leaders for ministry in the local church and the world “To the Praise of His Glory.” Maranatha Baptist University has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements and attained institutional accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission in February 1993. Leadership for specific tracks includes Ms. Teresa Herbert as Director of Beginning Band, Mr. Andrew Bonnema as Director of Intermediate Band, Dr. David Brown as Director of Advanced Band, Mrs. Angela Morris as Director of the Drama track, and Janet Tschida as the contact for piano track questions.
