Junior Entomology Academy (Bug Camp)

Bug Camp is part of the Biodiversity Outreach Network, also known as BON-Earth, a nonprofit organization involved in biodiversity research, bioinformatics, and biodiversity outreach aimed at bridging the divide between science and the general public. The program is connected to the Biodiversity Outreach Network’s focus on putting biodiversity data to work for monitoring, conservation, and education.

The Biodiversity Outreach Network’s mission is to bridge the gap between science and community with projects and community partners who want to put biodiversity data to work, including new ways of seeing and communicating data, creative approaches to conservation and restoration, and the integration of data in new technologies for the classroom. Its goal is to put biodiversity data to work where it is needed most while producing meaningful and measurable outcomes. According to the organization, products and programs range from community-based discovery centers to day camps serving underrepresented populations, to the development of national public campaigns, and are aligned with promoting enrichment and biodiversity literacy in connecting people with each other and the natural world.
