Booker T. Washington Child Development Center – Head Start & Preschool

Booker T. Washington Child Development Center – Head Start & Preschool offers a free Head Start program and a tuition-based preschool program. The programs have received a five-star rating from First Things First, which is the highest rating given by that organization. Head Start is available at multiple locations in the Eastlake and Garfield communities and within several local school districts and ASU Prep, and both Head Start and Preschool are available at the main campus.

• Price: A free Head Start program and a tuition based Preschool program for ages 3-5 with some scholarships available.

The center is led by President Jevin D. Hodge. It is celebrating over 55 years since its founding and is recognized as Arizona’s longest-running early childhood education institution. Its stated mission emphasizes dedication to serving young children and their families and recognizes parents as the primary educators and role models for their children, with all programs supporting parents as they pursue social, economic, and educational achievement. The center participates in M.A.N.C.A.V.E., a partnership between the city of Phoenix Human Services Department, My Brother's Keeper, Greater Phoenix Urban League, and the Booker T. Washington Child Development Center.
