New Pathways for Youth states that every young person can live their life with joy and purpose, confident in their ability to decide their own path. Level Up is described as a holistic, research-based development program that includes individualized 1:1 mentoring and action planning, a supportive peer group, and connections to critical well-being resources. The program is noted as being proven to generate remarkable outcomes for youth served and is part of a neighborhood impact model that has been refined for scalability and replicability in high-need neighborhoods in Phoenix.

New Pathways for Youth has a long history connected to this work, beginning with a 10-day intensive teen retreat in 1989 for 40 teens and mentors. Over the years, the organization has acquired additional mentoring programs, integrated its approach into a comprehensive model, and developed and refined a neighborhood impact model. In 2023, the organization debuted the Level Up name for its signature teen program, and in 2024 it is honoring 35 years of work with celebrations throughout the year.

As part of its community involvement, New Pathways for Youth hosts an annual Stories of Transformation Fundraising Breakfast where attendees hear directly from youth and see the impact of support. Testimonials from participants and families describe improved grades, steps toward achieving full potential, closing the opportunity gap, and learning from mentors who model honesty, hard work, depth, and vulnerability.
