About

Messy Makers offers art classes that include PROCESS ART, Fairy House Workshops, and Fairy Furniture Workshops. Classes and workshops are kept at a small size of no more than 10 children at a time. Many of the photos on the website were taken by Megan Small Photography for the Messy Makers Newsletter. Classes focus on PROCESS ART, which emphasizes the making and the doing rather than the product.

• Ages: 18 months–5 years old
• Schedule: Summer and fall 2026 class options on weekday mornings and Thursday afternoons

Messy Makers is led by instructor and owner Amy Seefeldt. Amy Seefeldt is an Alameda parent with children at Alameda High School and Lincoln Middle School. She is a gardener, a knitter, a tea drinker, and a lover of sloths. When she is not teaching in her backyard art studio or managing the lives of her two children, she makes her own art through painting and mixed media collage sculptures. She also teaches art at Temple Sinai Religious School in Oakland.

One parent, Colette G., describes Messy Makers as “a great, developmentally appropriate way for me to expose my daughter to art” and recommends it “to anyone with toddlers.” Another parent, Molly L., notes that her child has attended since just over a year old and mentions a class format that includes free art exploration, a project, storytime, and outdoor play time, and that she has signed up for three different semesters. A third parent, Mia K., shares that their family refers to class days as “paint class” days and calls them their favorites.
