About

Bay Area Kinderstube is a full-immersion German-language preschool in a mixed-age environment that uses play- and theme-based learning. Children take part in arts and music activities, and the program includes an annual celebration of Laternenfest and a semi-annual camping trip organized by volunteer parents.

• Ages: 2–5 years old

Bay Area Kinderstube is licensed to serve a maximum of 30 children per day and maintains a 1:6 ratio throughout the day. The program’s mission is to make German language development an integral part of the social, emotional, and cognitive development of the child. The director of Bay Area Kinderstube is Rabea Walker. The program describes a warm and open sense of community, a mingling of many cultures and ethnicities, and a strong culture of volunteerism. The annual celebration of Laternenfest draws many families from beyond the school, and BAKS families can participate in a semi-annual camping trip that is organized by volunteer parents.
