AYSO Area 1-C Youth Soccer Programs offer youth soccer programs that include the Spring Program, the League Championship (Play-Through) program, All-Stars, EPIC, and competitive play in 16U and 19U divisions. Area 1-C provides many inter-region programs for its members through these offerings.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
AYSO Area 1-C is made up of 9 AYSO regions in the western San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, including Alhambra/Monterey Park (60), Arcadia (2), Boyle Heights (1304), Glendale/La Crescenta (88), Pasadena/Altadena/La Cañada (13), San Gabriel/Rosemead (40), South El Monte (908), South Pasadena/San Marino (214), and Temple City (98), and is part of Section 1 of the American Youth Soccer Organization. The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO), founded in 1964, is a national nonprofit and a member of the U.S. Soccer Federation, and all AYSO programs conform to U.S. Soccer standards for safety and player development curricula. AYSO’s Vision is to provide world class youth soccer programs that enrich children's lives, and its Mission is to develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO's Six Philosophies: Everyone Plays®, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship, and Player Development. Area 1-C’s inter-region programs, including the 16U and 19U divisions, the Spring Program, the League Championship (Play-Through) program, All-Stars, and EPIC, are supported by a volunteer Board of Directors that works year-round, meets once a month, and holds meetings that are open to the public. Leadership roles in Area 1-C include the Area Director as head of the volunteer Board of Directors, along with Larry Abelson as Area Referee Administrator, Scott Davis as Assistant Area Referee Administrator, Bruce Hancock as Director of Referee Assessment, Mike Ball as Director of Referee Instruction, Lorenz Glaza as Director of Referee Mentoring, and Richard Chen as Area Referee Assignor.
