Camp La Verne Youth Camps takes place at a peaceful, non-profit 10 acre campground that includes a historical green-roofed wooden lodge, open-aired summer cabins with some winterized and wired with electricity, an outdoor basketball hoop, a full-size volleyball court, a horseshoe pit, an archery range, a separate crafts lodge painted inside with names and years of previous campers, and an amphitheater-style fire pit. Staff, counselors, and educators are described as an experienced and qualified crew who are passionate about working with people of all ages and sharing the joys of connecting in the beauty of the outdoors. Camp La Verne was founded in 1924 by Reverend Edgar Rothrock of the Church of the Brethren, La Verne, and has been a peaceful place to gather in the San Bernardino Mountains since 1924, celebrating 102 years of outdoor experiences. Since 1924 the stated goal has been to caretake and share this place where community and nature can be bonded in experiences that create lifelong friendships and memories, and the organization states that camp experiences can be transformative, helping youth and adults make deeper connections to nature while gaining life guiding skills, being immersed in independence, and elevating self-confidence. Camp La Verne is described as a camp community for all walks of life and offers a variety of youth, family, and adult programs, including specialty programs such as Outdoor Skills, Camp Cooking, Birding, Astronomy, and Family Fishing Camp, and it provides full-service cooking and self-serving group options. The establishment states that it provides services, accommodations, and privileges regardless of race, color, creed, sex, religion, age, or national origin.
