About
Drawn2Art Aptos Studio offers instruction in realistic drawing, painting, and clay sculpture. Students work on still-life, figure drawing, portraiture, landscapes, realistic animals, cartooning, and animation using a range of art materials and techniques.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes for ages 4–6 are 1 hour long with options Monday–Thursday at 3:30 pm and Saturday–Sunday at 11:00 am; classes for ages 7 and up are 1.5 hours long with options Tuesday–Thursday at 5:00 pm, Wednesday and Friday at 1:30 pm, Friday at 3:30 pm, Saturday at 9:00 am, and Sunday at 9:00 am and 1:00 pm.
Drawn2Art Aptos Studio is a family-owned and operated program that has been in operation since 1986 and has never franchised. The program follows a mission devoted to teaching skill-based fundamentals and uses a philosophy of “creativity follows mastery.” Its curriculum is unique, designed, reviewed, and updated using feedback from teachers and students, and includes step-by-step methods and individualized written programs for beginning, intermediate, and advanced students according to their abilities and proficiencies. Classes are held year-round, and new classes open with four or more students, with a free introductory class available and seasonal camps, classes, and events offered throughout the year.
The program teaches students to see lines, shapes, color, and tones in objects and focuses on enhancing visual intelligence. Mediums include pencil, colored pencil, crayon and watercolor crayon, markers, pen and ink, charcoal, watercolor paints, acrylic paints, and oil paints. Drawn2Art is a recipient of the Walt Disney Motif Award and has been selected as one of the top five art programs in the nation.
Drawn2Art Aptos Studio teaches homeschool students and is an approved vendor for homeschool groups. The leadership team includes Art Director and Owner Rachael Cartwright, along with instructors Izabell Saldana, Rachel Dougherty (who is also an office assistant), Sierra Masri, Mia Brooke, and Zaina Usman.
