Atascadero Youth Sports offers activities that include Aquatics, Basketball, T-Ball, Volleyball, Start Smart Sports, Pickleball, Lap Swim, Private Swim Lessons, Group Swim Lessons, Rec Swim, Community Swim Party, Youth Basketball, Youth Volleyball, the Start Smart Sports Development Program, and youth pickleball classes. The youth basketball league offers a division for anyone in grades Kindergarten through 12th at any skill level, and the youth basketball program stresses individual skill development, teamwork, positive attitudes, and fun in a non-competitive setting. T-Ball focuses on teaching the basics of baseball in a low-key and instructional atmosphere, and the Coed Jr. Volleyball League places emphasis on learning the fundamentals, expanding skills, player participation, teamwork, and fun.

• Schedule: Swim lessons meet in 5-session blocks of 30-minute lessons on Sundays; Start Smart Sports meets once a week for 6 weeks; T-Ball practices and games are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the season, with the 2026 season running practices March 24–April 9, picture day April 14, and games April 16–May 21; Sunday aquatics programming includes Lap Swim, Private Lessons, Group Lessons, and Rec Swim.
• Price: Drop-in Lap and Rec Swim is $5 per participant; Swim Passes are $45 for 10 swims; Group Swim Lessons are $85 for residents and $93.50 for non-residents; Private Swim Lessons are $185 for residents and $203.50 for non-residents.
The Start Smart Sports Development Program is a proven instructional program that prepares children ages 3–5 for the world of organized sports without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt, with parents working together with their children. In Start Smart Sports, exercises become increasingly difficult as the class progresses and children show improvement, and sports reviewed include baseball/softball, basketball, soccer, and overall body movement.
The City of Atascadero is excited to offer weekend swim opportunities to the community on Sundays before the summer weather comes to an end, including Lap Swim, Group and Private Swim Lessons, Rec Swim, and a Community Swim Party. Swim Passes can be used for both Lap and Rec Swim and can be shared among family members, and passes or drop-in swim fees may be paid day of with onsite pool staff via cash or check, with passes purchased in person. The City of Atascadero is also offering youth pickleball classes for 5th–8th graders and is partnering with the Atascadero Pickleball Club, which assists in teaching youth pickleball.
Volunteer coaches and sponsors are needed for Basketball, T-Ball, and Youth Volleyball programs, and scholarships for Basketball, T-Ball, Youth Volleyball, and Start Smart Sports programs are available to eligible applicants. Members of the public are welcome to attend and provide input at public meetings of the City Council, commissions, boards, or committees. The City of Atascadero has received the 2025–2027 Excellence Award in Budgeting.
