Youth Summer Art Program
Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center, 9341 Mill St, Ben Lomond, CA 95005
About
The Youth Summer Art Program includes a Summer Art Camp where students take classes in painting and drawing, cartoon art, ceramics, printmaking, and art-meets-science (STEAM) topics. During camp, students work on individual and collaborative projects, take part in critiques, and present and discuss their work. All Art Center youth art classes incorporate age appropriate SCMAC Standards and California State Content Standards for the Visual Arts and Music.
• Ages: 7–14 years old
• Schedule: Two weeks of classes in June to choose from; Youth Summer Art Program – June 8–11 and 15–18, 2026
The program is led by talented and creative instructors, most of whom are professional artists in diverse fields. All levels are welcome, and the only stated requirement is a sincere interest in the visual arts. Families can register for a la carte classes to fit their schedules, and an optional supervised lunch is available for a day camp experience. Scholarships and sliding scale tuition are available, and the Gloria Seneres Memorial Fund directly supports Youth Art Programs.
The Santa Cruz Mountains Art Center began in 1987 as a committee of the local Santa Cruz Cultural Council and incorporated in 1997 as its own non-profit. Its mission is to support and encourage the arts through education, exhibition, and cultural activities, reflecting the unique and diverse environment of the mountain communities. The Art Center has been voted the “Best Place to Take an Art Class” by the Press Banner and named a Press Banner FAVE “Place to Take a Class.” Youth art programs receive support from organizations and donors including Arts Council Santa Cruz County, Art Services by Steve and Mary Lanctot, Barbara Thomas, California Arts Council, Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County, Wild Roots Market, Felton / Boulder Creek, Phoenix Ceramics, Valley Women's Club, Redwood Mountain Faire, Ben Lomond Market, and individual donors.
