About
Kala Youth Arts Programs are part of Kala Art Institute’s youth offerings, which include Camp Kala, a Summer Youth Arts Program, as well as the After School Studio for 1st–5th grade and the Teen Studio Art Program for 6th–12th grade. These programs take place within Kala Art Institute, which provides professional facilities for artists working in and across printmaking and digital media, installation, sound, sculpture, and performance. Kala Youth Arts Programs are connected to Kala’s Artist-in-Residence and Fellowship Programs, which support artists working in these disciplines.

Kala Art Institute’s mission is to help artists sustain their creative work over time through its Artist-in-Residence and Fellowship Programs, and to engage the community through exhibitions, public programs, and education. Kala’s Teaching Artists are both educators and artists who represent a broad range of cultural backgrounds and artistic approaches, and they are selected for their professional skills, engagement with the art community, and experience teaching children, teens, and adults. Kala Art Institute engages the community through exhibitions, public programs, and education, and it administers the California Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowships (Region 3 – The Bay Area) in partnership with the California Arts Council. Kala Art Institute received a 2025 Creative Forces Community Engagement grant. Kala Art Institute is located in Huichin, the home territory of Chochenyo speaking Ohlone people, on unceded Lisjan Ohlone land.
