• Schedule: Zoom virtual office available any time from 8:00am to 6:00pm PST
The program’s mission is to provide high quality expanded learning program activities to improve students’ 21st Century skills, help them build protective factors and resiliency assets, and assist families to support their students’ academic success. It is an Expanded Learning Program under the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant and is overseen by UC Berkeley's School of Education. The program focuses on school-community partnerships, engaged learning with hands-on and interactive teaching styles, family engagement, and health and wellness through nutritional meals, resources, and activities. It emphasizes STEEAAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Executive functioning, Arts, Athletics, and Math), combining academic assistance, enrichment, and family literacy with the California Common Core Standards. The program supports and provides academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools, and includes activities to reconnect students to school life as well as parent involvement and family literacy activities. Its vision states that students will succeed academically, graduate, envision a college pathway, and a positive future, and its goals include addressing students’ emotional, social, environmental, physical, and cognitive needs. The program will foster career exploration and stimulate interests in careers through research, job shadowing, and internships. The Eastbay Collaborative for Underserved Children is partnered with many local organizations that help the program improve and thrive. The leadership team includes Project Director Glynda Hull and Point of Contact Adrienne Herd.
