Gafieira SF offers children the opportunity to engage in Performing Arts and Cultural Studies. The program is held at the Mahea Uchiyama Center for International Dance, which is known for its focus on traditional dance and music.

The program is part of the Brasarte Cultural Center in Berkeley, California. It is led by Weslei Guimarães, who serves as the Director of Talent Development, Choreographer, and Principal Dancer. The program is recognized as Northern California’s first comprehensive Danca de Salão (Brazilian Ballroom Dance) program. Weslei Guimarães has been awarded the Brazilian National Bolero Championship, Estilizando Bolero, in 2016. The mission of the Mahea Uchiyama Center for International Dance is to connect all people through traditional dance and music to foster a greater understanding of our shared human history and promote cross-cultural communication.
