Hanwen School Mandarin Chinese Language Programs offers Mandarin Chinese language classes, summer camps in Chinese, and Mandarin immersion with science exploration topics in natural and physical sciences. The program also includes games, arts and crafts, yoga, kung fu, and onsite piano and violin music lessons when available.

• Schedule: 10 weeks of Mandarin immersion
Hanwen School was founded in January 2016. Its mission is to provide Mandarin Chinese activities where children can learn Chinese through language classes and cultural enrichment activities, and to offer the local community ways to broaden their understanding of Chinese language and culture. The program serves the local East Bay community with after-school language programs, weekend enrichment, and summer camps for elementary, middle, and high school children. It offers a Heritage Chinese Track for grades K–5 and a Chinese as Second Language (CSL) option for grades K–5, depending on cohort availability. Games and activities are used to give children constant chances to practice their language abilities, and children develop an awareness of the language’s culture. Transportation options include use of a Berkeley school bus or a Hanwen shuttle, and the program has a notice of nondiscriminatory policy as to students.
