Youth & Teen Classes offers dance classes for young people. The program is part of Shawl-Anderson Dance Center, which offers dance classes for all ages and in a variety of styles and fosters an inclusive environment for movers of every background.

Shawl-Anderson Dance Center is a Berkeley institution founded in 1958, with a legacy spanning over sixty years as a multigenerational dance space serving people of all ages. The Center is a non-profit, community-based organization with 501c3 status. Its mission includes providing dance education, institutional support for artists, a performance and rehearsal venue, and partnerships with other community-based organizations. The organization and its employees, board, and community members are actively working to dismantle oppressive systems and structures that impact programming, hiring, and access. SADC provides space, voice, and a home for BIPOC students and artists to have meaningful experiences in dance as students, teachers, staff, board members, choreographers, performers, and audience members, and welcomes and encourages all voices, ages, and the many reasons people come to dance. Shawl-Anderson Dance Center supports local artists, serves as a rehearsal and performance space, and produces events like the Queering Dance Festival and Dance Up Close for the East Bay creative community. It has expanded programming to BANDALOOP Studios in Oakland to share space with colleagues of BANDALOOP, and BANDALOOP is a wheelchair accessible space.
