About

Ruocco Equestrian Training Riding School offers riding lessons, hunter and jumper training, and instruction in eventing disciplines, along with horsemanship foundation training and Horsemanship 101. The program also provides horse training, Thoroughbred re-training, and horse boarding, including an off-track program that transforms retired and non-eligible racehorses into athletes in other disciplines. Training programs are available for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders, and the program offers horse sales and leasing assistance through a full service sales program that uses an extensive resource of equine industry connections.

• Ages: 5–18 years old

The Ruocco Equestrian Training Riding School states that available training programs differ based on the needs of the rider or owner, including instructional training for riders, professional training for horses by trainer Emily Ruocco, or a combination of both, and that each training program is tailored to the individual personality and needs of the horse and rider. The program’s mission is for riders to gain the knowledge and skills to properly care for and ride horses under direct supervision, and for students to learn to work with horses while covering basics in the hunter, jumper, and eventing disciplines. The program is based at a full service horse boarding and training facility that includes a large arena fit for western or English riding, lessons, and jumping, three round pens, a hot walker, jumping areas, and access to trails, and it notes that regular preventative healthcare measures are given to horses.

Owner and trainer Emily Ruocco has over 11 years of experience in the upper levels of the horse industry. Assistant trainer Cami Nembach served as Captain of the NCAA Division 1 Equestrian Team at UC Davis from 2019 to 2022, was named a National Collegiate Equestrian Association Standout Student-Athlete in 2021, earned NCEA Honor Roll recognition in 2021, ECAC Honor Roll recognition in 2022, and received the ECAC Sportsmanship Award. She has also worked as Barn Supervisor at the UC Davis Equestrian Center, where she maintained the university’s equestrian boarding facility as an on-site barn supervisor, including feeding, stall cleaning, and footing upkeep. The leadership team also includes junior coaches Katie Frey, Jayme Engen, and Alexis Kay.

The program notes that MMEC members are constantly taking part in fun and entertaining activities throughout the year. It also states that MMEC provides full service training and horse boarding, solid foundation training for horse and rider, and that MMEC ensures quality care for all their horses and members in every way possible.
