LearnUp Centers 1:1 Reading Tutoring offers one-on-one tutoring sessions with highly-trained tutors using a structured literacy curriculum aligned to the Science of Reading. Tutoring includes structured phonics training, use of a tactile, multi-sensory magnetic board to actively teach phonics, and reading books during each session, with about half of every tutoring session spent reading books. The program also offers a free reading assessment.

LearnUp is a nonprofit with a mission to reach and teach struggling readers in every community to read with confidence using its structured literacy program. LearnUp Centers teaches struggling readers, with or without a diagnosis of dyslexia, to read in about half the time of other reading programs. Its Structured Literacy curriculum integrates practices from Orton-Gillingham based programs, speech therapy, structured phonics, and brain research, and uses decodable chapter books so students can practice new reading concepts within a storybook. LearnUp books are exciting adventures that align to the structured phonics program and can also be used with other phonics programs, and there is a book series for every level and age of learner. Ongoing enrollment is available all year, with tutors available to fit a child’s needs and schedule, and LearnUp scholarships are offered on a sliding scale based on family need and available scholarship funds. Evidence-based results reported by LearnUp state that in about 3–4 months of tutoring, the average student increases word fluency by more than 50%, gains over 44 words per minute in fluency, and jumps about 2 reading grade levels.
