The mission at Burbank Dance Academy is to provide, from age 3, a dynamic, all-encompassing curriculum focusing on the development of the whole dancer in a positive, supportive, and nurturing environment. The Pre-Ballet program is a preparatory division that introduces children to the beauty and joy of dance starting at age 3 (or once potty-trained) and focuses on musicality, rhythm, flexibility, strength, stamina, and fundamental technical progression. Étoile is an accelerated program for dancers beginning at age 8 who demonstrate an aptitude for classical ballet, is by audition only, and is based on principles and fundamentals of classical ballet with Vaganova technique at its core. The overall curriculum consists of Vaganova-based classical ballet training supplemented by Contemporary, Jazz, Acrobatics, Tap, Hip-Hop, and participation in a competitive Performance Company.
The faculty at Burbank Dance Academy is described as highly accomplished, with a combined 100+ years as dance educators and performers, and is described as including some of the best dance educators in the city. Faculty members meet regularly to maintain the integrity of what is being taught in all classes, assess student progress, and address concerns.
