Calistoga Art Center Youth Programs include activities such as the Poetry Writing Workshop with Brandon Tagle, Intro to Needle Felting: Easter Eggs with Anna Johansson, Seed Bombs with Rachelle Benny, and 3 Minute Flower: Intuitive Drawing with Babette Pinsky. The Poetry Writing Workshop with Brandon Tagle is scheduled for Saturday March 28th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, and 3 Minute Flower: Intuitive Drawing with Babette Pinsky meets Friday May 15th from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Intro to Needle Felting: Easter Eggs with Anna Johansson is scheduled for Saturday April 4th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Afterschool Art Lab in March meets on two Tuesdays for ages 6–8 years and two Wednesdays for ages 9–12 years from 3:30pm to 5:00pm, and Afterschool Creative Club (1st–6th grade) with Anna Johansson meets Thursdays from 3:30pm to 5:00pm. Intro to the Wheel: 2nd Session with Michelle Hamilton is a six-week session that begins Thursday March 12th and meets from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. Craft Lab 50+ meets April 2nd and 23rd from 10:00am to 12:00pm, Open Studio Ceramics 16+ meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, Monday Painters Group meets Mondays from 9:30am to 12:30pm, and Stained Glass with Lisa Green meets Mondays from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
The Calistoga Art Center was formed in 2002. The center’s mission states that it is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, inclusive community where art and creativity thrive, and that it aims to provide a welcoming space for artists of all ages and skill levels to explore and develop their creative potential through diverse programs and educational opportunities. The center notes that sliding scale participation fees are available. It states that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, gender expression, age, national origin, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status in any of its activities or operations, and that accommodations may include language interpretation, audio amplification, lighting modification, or other identified needs. The center also lists a COVID-19 Commemorative Tile Project commemorating healing and hope from Covid-19.
The Calistoga Art Center notes that its space is one level with a wide, open layout, a double door entrance with no mullion, and an emergency exit through a roll-up opening, and that it has no stairs to impede mobility aids and many tables and chairs to ensure social distancing. The leadership team includes the CAC Board of Directors: Alina Bednarz, Marcia Beauchamp, Jennifer Filipelli, Charlotte Fong, Lisa Green, Michael Hicks, Jennifer Lewis, Maureen O’Neill, Babette Pinsky, Nina Pinsky, and Daniela Sklan. The Manager & Programs Director is Anna Johansson, and the Administrative Assistant is Madi Remigio.
