Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District was formed in January 1962 and has grown from one park on 30 acres to 28 parks on over 300 acres. It is an independent special district formed under the State Public Resource Code of California and is governed by a publicly elected Board of Directors. The District serves a population of over 70,000 across an area of approximately 45 square miles and offers facilities such as an Aquatic Center, Senior Center, Community Center, four dog parks, an equestrian arena and trail, a skate park, tennis and pickleball courts, sports fields, picnic shelters, a running track, park fitness equipment, and hiking trails. The District’s mission is to provide and maintain a full range of facilities and programs focused on leisure, recreational, and athletic activities for residents, supporting both organized activities and casual use for all age groups. The Camarillo community approved the creation of the District to provide programs, parks, and facilities, and the District’s non-profit Foundation raises funds to improve parks and programming needs. The leadership team includes a General Manager, an Assistant General Manager, managers and specialists in recreation, parks, marketing, development, accounting, customer service, and park services, as well as a Park Ranger for park patrol. The District also offers weekly bingo for adults 18 and older with buy-ins.
