About

Alka Montessori offers toddler and preschool programs, after-school care, and a complete Montessori curriculum that includes music and dance, arts and crafts, and yoga for children. The program provides nutritious snacks that follow food program guidelines and places each child in a small group with a dedicated teacher, with small teacher-to-student ratios and a focus on safety and emotional well-being in a nature-inspired environment. The approach combines the Montessori philosophy with personalized care and a holistic focus on social, emotional, and academic growth, with part-time and full-time program options available.

• Ages: 1–12 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

Alka Montessori has been a trusted name in early childhood education for over 20 years and has been the premier child care center in South Bay, CA since 2006. For the past 15 years, founder, director, and head teacher Alka Sharma has been running her own facility and serves as the head teacher at Alka Montessori. The programs are state-licensed, and the center is a Choices for Children partner serving the South Bay area, mainly Campbell and South San Jose.

The staff includes qualified, CPR/First Aid certified teachers and certified Montessori educators. Alka is a member of the American Montessori Society and is a certified Montessori teacher who is also certified in early child development, holds a graduate degree in child psychology and education, and has over 20 years of current teaching experience in large preschools as a head teacher. Sibling and other discounts are available, and referrals are accepted.

Parents describe Alka Montessori as providing a mix of safety, play, learning, and emotional development, with teachers and staff who are easily accessible and responsive to concerns. Families report that children have attended from 18 months through preschool, that transitions into care were made comfortable, and that children’s emotional, physical, social, and educational needs were well met. Several parents mention the food program and the variety in meal options, note noticeable development in their children, and describe weekly folders of crafts and school work coming home, with strong recommendations from multiple families.
