Bay to Bay Volleyball Club offers a range of volleyball activities, including Summer Camps, Small Group Sessions, Local Training Groups, Intro Youth Clinics, a Beach Club, Thursday Grass Clinics, Travel Team Skills Practices, and Middle Blocker Small Groups. The program also uses a specific uniform kit that includes a Team Issue Jersey Set, White Game Socks, and Baby Blue Game Shorts.

Bay to Bay Volleyball Club was founded in 2000. The club states its founding principle as “developing quality young men through the sport of volleyball,” and its mission statement is “Developing quality young men through the sport of volleyball. Our founding principle remains the same: develop quality young men through the sport of volleyball.” Bay to Bay Volleyball Club brings together players from the Monterey Bay to the San Francisco Bay, and nearly 600 athletes train within the program on a yearly basis. The club describes itself as more than a club and as a community of athletes, coaches, and parents striving for the best.

The leadership team includes co-Directors Arielle Houlihan and Matt Houlihan, Assistant Club Director Mason Tufuga, Director of Operations Kyle Chamberlain, and Director of Human Performance Daniel Rasay. The Director of Human Performance role also includes responsibility for snacks. The program also notes Summer Camp programming with a lead administrator.

Staff credentials include multiple coaches with collegiate playing and coaching backgrounds. Arielle Houlihan played collegiate volleyball at the University of the Pacific. Matt Houlihan studied Sport Management and Business at the University of the Pacific, played collegiate volleyball there, was voted the team’s “Most Inspirational Player” four years in a row, and was a three-time MPSF All-Academic Team selection. Mason Tufuga played Division I volleyball at Stanford. Marty Ross played collegiate volleyball at the University of the Pacific and UC Irvine and finished his collegiate career at UC Irvine. Daniel Rasay played collegiate volleyball at the University of Hawaii, where he won a national championship, and then coached at Stanford University for over a decade, winning another national title in 2010. Jalen Suwa is an assistant coach for his alma mater, Division III UC Santa Cruz. Ryan Sullivan is the Junior Varsity Head Coach at Bellarmine College Prep and a former Varsity coach at Los Gatos High School. John Alexander played collegiate volleyball at NYU.

Bay to Bay Volleyball Club reports over 27 National Championships and more than 150 alumni competing in college, and notes that the club has national recognition. The club highlights that it brings together the best players in Northern California from the Monterey Bay to the San Francisco Bay. Coaching accomplishments include Matt Houlihan guiding 17 teams to a top-5 finish or better at Junior Nationals, with 2 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals, and 6 Bronze Medals. Bay to Bay teams have multiple medals at AAU National Championships and BJNC, including a Bronze medal at the 2025 AAU National Championships with Bay to Bay 15-1, a Silver medal at the 2024 AAU National Championship with Bay to Bay 15-1, a Bronze medal at the 2023 AAU National Championships with Bay to Bay 18-1’s, and a Silver medal at the 2022 AAU National Championships with Bay to Bay 18-1’s. Additional results include two Bronze medals at the 2021 BJNC (with Bay to Bay 14-1’s and 16-1’s), Gold and Bronze medals at the 2019 BJNC (13-1’s Bronze and 12-1’s Gold), and Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals at the 2018 BJNC (15-1’s Silver, 17-1’s Gold, and 12-1’s Bronze).

Arielle Houlihan has coached ten Bay to Bay teams to a top-5 finish at Junior Nationals. Her teams’ results include leading Bay to Bay 18-1 to a Bronze finish at AAU National Championship in 2025, leading Bay to Bay 17-1 to a 17-Open AAU National Championship in 2024, assisting Bay to Bay 18-1 to a Silver medal finish in 2022, leading Bay to Bay 16-1’s to a Bronze medal finish in 2021, serving as Head Coach of the 2018 17-Open National Champions, and earning two Silver medals (2018 Assistant with 15-1’s and 2017 Assistant with 12-1’s) and one Bronze medal (2016 Assistant with 12-1’s). Mason Tufuga’s coaching results include a Bronze medal finish in 2025 with Bay to Bay 16-1, a Bronze medal finish in 2022 with Bay to Bay 17-1, assisting the 2018–19 Bay to Bay 15-1’s to a 15-Open Bronze medal finish, and winning BJNC Gold with OCVC in 2016. Ryan Sullivan’s listed achievements include a 2021 Silver Medal at USAV Nationals 17-Club Division, a 2012 CCS D1 Silver as Assistant for Bellarmine College Prep, 2010 CCS D2 Champions with Branham High School, and 2011 CCCAA Champions with Irvine Valley College. As a player, Matt Houlihan was San Jose Mercury News Player of the Year in 2008 and won a 17 Open Bronze medal as a Bay to Bay player in 2007. As noted earlier, Daniel Rasay won a national championship as a player at the University of Hawaii and another national title in 2010 as a coach at Stanford University.

The club describes its community as a community of athletes, coaches, and parents striving for the best. One testimonial from Nathan Smith, a Penn State and Bay to Bay alum, states: “Bay to Bay was a second home for me. No matter what I was going through, I was always welcomed into the gym with a smile. I was surrounded by a diverse community of players, coaches, and parents who were all dedicated to bringing out the best in each other. Bay to Bay will always have a special place in my heart.”
