About

San Jose Community Youth Service (CYS) offers a variety of activities for young people, including dance, individual and team sports, athletic activities, cultural activities, and community giving. The program is rooted in Japanese American values and is a parent-run organization.

• Ages: 3–15 years old

Founded in 1961, CYS is an active part of the Japanese American community in San Jose. The organization provides opportunities for youth to develop skills, build self-esteem, and create life-long friendships. The leadership team includes Kristy Hayashida as President and Kelly Okamoto-Lou as President Emeritus, among others. Membership is open to anyone committed to serving and nurturing the Nikkei community.
