About the provider
Founded in 1961, CYS is rooted in Japanese American values and is dedicated to engaging regional youth in activities that focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and community involvement. It is a parent-run organization with leadership that includes Kelly Okamoto-Lou, Kristy Hayashida, Deacon Kuwaye, Krista Mizusaki, Michelle Villanueva, Eilene Ozawa, and Board of Directors members Marcus Kai, Yukari Kawano, Trisha Kuwada, Margaret and Jack Ma, and Michelle Sakakihara.
CYS is a parent-run organization. Parental participation is a tradition necessary in every facet of the organization, ranging from coaching a team, serving on the CYS board or running a community giving committee. Membership is open to anyone who has demonstrated a commitment to serving, maintaining and nurturing the Nikkei community.
