About
Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad – Youth Programs offers programming in five core areas: character and leadership development, education and career development, health and life skills, sports fitness and recreation, and the arts. Club members are given the freedom to make their own activity choices under an open-door policy.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Price: The annual membership registration fee is $50 per child per calendar year. There are monthly fees for the after school program and weekly fees for camps. Sports leagues and transportation may have fees in addition to the annual membership fee. Need-based financial aid is available.
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad is to inspire the community's young people to BE GREAT by offering educational, enriching and fun experiences in a safe environment. The organization is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation dedicated to helping young people from all walks of life, and no child is ever turned away due to inability to pay. The Club states that its programs promote and enhance the development of Carlsbad's youth by instilling a sense of belonging, competence, usefulness, and influence, and that it believes in safety, respect, leadership, teamwork, inclusion and fun.
The Club has served well over 90,000 youth since opening its doors in 1952. Its original location on Roosevelt Street in the Village has been renovated five times, most recently in 1999. A second facility housed in a double wide trailer was added in 1982 in La Costa to serve the southern sector of the city, and in 2011 a new state-of-the art Clubhouse in Bressi Ranch opened, replacing the La Costa trailer. In 1994, the Carlsbad Club included females in its daily programming and became the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad. Teen programs on the campuses of both Carlsbad and Sage Creek High Schools were inaugurated in 2015.
