About
MEarth Summer Camps offers hands-on activities that include gardening, eco-exploration, outdoor exploration, games, and garden exploration. Campers chop, cook, and bake using fresh produce harvested from an organic garden, and prepare fresh, tasty snacks using garden-grown produce harvested by campers. Certain sessions include cooking delicious sustainable meals while learning basic knife skills and knife safety, different cooking methods, and kitchen hygiene, and a local professional chef joins the camp to cook a meal alongside the campers and share culinary skills. Campers also explore local plants and animals and go on a scenic hike at Palo Corona Regional Park through engaging activities.

MEarth began by providing instruction to students in the Carmel Unified School District at this habitat, and its mission is to educate and inspire through environmental stewardship. MEarth works in partnership with schools and organizations throughout the County, including the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Monterey County, Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station, and the Recruitment in Science Education program of California State University at Monterey Bay, and offers break camps, field-trips, after-school education, and Community Connection Day events. MEarth offers place-based, hands-on environmental learning opportunities to the broader Monterey Peninsula community and notes that sustainability practices and principles are the foundation of its programming and curriculum.
Partial scholarships are available to support kids from Title I schools and underserved communities with financial assistance. To be eligible for partial scholarships, families must email documentation showing eligibility or enrollment in Medi-Cal health care, enrollment in SNAP benefits, or annual income equal to or below the poverty line as indicated by the U.S. Federal Government to [email protected] before registering, and scholarship recipients need a promo code before starting registration. MEarth states that it is proud to receive recognition for its programmatic efforts. A MEarth Garden Volunteer describes enjoying the hands-on support they can offer in the garden and notes that MEarth has an impressive vegetable garden and fruit trees that community members can learn from.
