About

Burlo Gymnastics Rhythmic Gymnastics Programs offers rhythmic gymnastics classes and rhythmic gymnastics camp that include stretching, jumping, body movement, apparatus handling, and body conditioning. Participants also take a ballet class as part of the training.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Rhythmic gymnastics classes follow the L.A.U.S.D. school schedule, with class options Monday–Friday between 3:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; girls in the Toddler & Kids Program usually practice 1–2 hours per week, and Competitive Team Program gymnasts practice at least 3 times per week for a total of 9 hours.

The program’s stated goal is to provide the most comprehensive training available. Training is offered year round with a variety of monthly packages. The leadership team includes Head Coach and Co-Owner Jenya Burlo and Manager and Co-Owner Elena. Jenya is a rhythmic judge and experienced trainer who earned the Master of Sports–International Class title and was a professional member of the Belarus National Olympic Team in 2003. Nastya is a rhythmic gymnastics coach and two-time Olympic medalist, winning bronze in Beijing and silver in London, and she attended the Belarus National Olympic School and earned a Master of Sports with Honors International. Dasha is a rhythmic gymnastics coach who earned a Master of Sports degree at 15 years old, began coaching rhythmic gymnasts in Russia at 18, and has been a coach at Burlo Gymnastics since 2016. Masha is a rhythmic gymnastics coach who earned a Master of Sport International Class degree, was a member of the Belarus National Team for five years, and is a three-time silver medalist of the European Junior Championship and bronze medalist of the World University Games in 2017. Ksenia is the ballet coach and received professional ballet, pointe, jazz, and modern dance training in Russia and has performed in productions for music theatre and ballet companies in Russia and the United States. Elena, the manager and co-owner, graduated from Hunter College with a degree in computer science and has experience in IT, business management, and accounting. The majority of trainers at Burlo Gymnastics have had personal experience competing in the Olympics.

The facility includes two Olympic-size carpets, an Olympic-size warm-up carpet, Swedish walls, and a parents’ room with a comfortable viewing area and coffee maker. The gym has a private and secure parking lot and is a 10,000-square-foot facility with 36-foot ceilings. The program offers rhythmic gymnastics camp and classes in accordance with Los Angeles COVID-19 recommended guidelines and is described as great for beginners and competitive athletes, with private parking and year-round training.

Parent testimonials describe the gym as well run, organized, big, bright, clean, and very well maintained, and note that coaches have extensive experience and are described as professional and nice. Parents report long-term participation by their children, describe coaches as learning each child and motivating them, and state that they have seen improvement in their children’s skills and at home.
