About
Chico Area Recreation & Park District Programs and Activities offers summer camps, sports, arts, outdoor adventures, STEM activities, and a variety of Adult & Youth Classes. The program includes creative arts and fitness options, as well as special events such as the CARD 4th of July Parade, Movies at the Pool, and the Nature Center Ice Cream Social with ice cream, nature exhibits, and activities.

Established in 1948, the Chico Area Recreation & Park District has been operating for more than 75 years. Its mission is to provide recreation opportunities to the greater Chico community in a coordinated and cost effective manner. CARD is a California Special District that oversees 17 community and neighborhood parks, 6 community centers, a swimming pool, and the Chico Creek Nature Center, and it offers a variety of Adult & Youth Classes to spark curiosity and build skills at any age. CARD’s Play Guide lists sports, classes, camps, and special events for all ages, including the 3rd annual CARD 4th of July Parade, July Movies in the Pool featuring “Shark Tale,” and the Nature Center Ice Cream Social. CARD is dedicated to enriching the community through diverse recreational opportunities, brings friends and families together to create joyful experiences and lasting memories, and highlights local contributions through its Legacy Landmarks project.
