Chico Area Recreation & Park District Programs and Activities

Chico Area Recreation & Park District Programs and Activities offers summer camps, sports, arts, outdoor adventures, STEM activities, creative arts, fitness, parades, and special events. The program includes activities such as the CARD 4th of July Parade, July Movies in the Pool featuring “Shark Tale,” Movies at the Pool, and the Nature Center Ice Cream Social with ice cream and nature exhibits.

The Chico Area Recreation & Park District was established in 1948 and has been operating for more than 75 years. Its mission is to provide recreation opportunities to the greater Chico community in a coordinated and cost effective manner. CARD oversees 17 community and neighborhood parks, 6 community centers, a swimming pool, and the Chico Creek Nature Center. The Play Guide highlights a wide variety of sports, classes, camps, and special events for all ages, and CARD is moving to a new recreation software platform to make finding and registering for programs easier. CARD’s community involvement includes the Legacy Landmarks project, which honors individuals who have shaped and strengthened the community through their passion, dedication, and service, and activities that bring friends and families together to create joyful experiences and lasting memories.
