Montessori American School Summer Camp takes place at a private, bilingual preschool and kindergarten that follows the Montessori plan for learning. The camp uses air-conditioned classrooms with adjoining gardens, and each room is self-contained with a bathroom and space for individual and group activity. A well-equipped, park-like playground and indoor-outdoor learning areas are part of the daily environment.

Montessori American School was founded in 1988 by Edith Gruener and opened with 48 students, and today it serves 96 children between the ages of 2 and 6 years. The school leader is Yolanda Alvarez. The mission of Montessori American School is to provide a carefully structured, warmly inviting, and stimulating environment that encourages a positive attitude towards learning. The school educates children ages 2–6 from Chula Vista, Bonita, San Diego, Eastlake, Imperial Beach, Coronado, and National City, California.
Montessori American School is a member of the American Montessori Society and is a nine-time award-winning preschool and kindergarten. The teachers have academic credentials as well as an internationally recognized certification in the Montessori Method. According to the school, 98% of its students meet or exceed national benchmarks.
