FYI Sports Academy Basketball Programs offers basketball camps, training sessions, team opportunities, and college advising for student-athletes nationwide. The program includes basketball camps for both boys and girls and uses a player-focused basketball approach rooted in growth, discipline, and winning. Activities are part of sports-based leadership and mentorship initiatives that focus on athletics, education, and social and cultural programs.
Coach Stephen Burns founded FYI Sports Academy in 2007 and serves as Campus Director, Learning Coach, Freshman Basketball Coach, and Owner & Director of FYI Sports Academy. The leadership team also includes Michael Daniels Sr. as Athletics Director, Learning Coach, Varsity Basketball Coach, Southwest Region Director of FYI Sports Academy, and Campus Director and Head Basketball Coach at The FYI School, along with Kevin McKinney as Post Grad Head Coach, Baseball Director, Learning Coach, and Post Grad Basketball Head Coach and Baseball Director at The FYI School. Staff credentials include experience as head women’s basketball coaches at Texas College and Columbia College, head basketball coach roles at multiple high schools, an associate head football coach role, and ownership and direction of UX Sports. Academic and professional credentials include Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration from Missouri Baptist University and Western Illinois University, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Prairie View A&M University, and an MBA in Organizational Leadership from Western Governors University. Staff members hold USA Basketball Gold Licensed Coach and USA Basketball Gold Certified Coach credentials, and one staff member is a former Division I athlete from Prairie View A&M University. The program’s mission is to empower individuals to be creative, motivated, and inspired to vigorously pursue education, career success, and social awareness while navigating life’s transitions. Coach Burns has also served as Athletic Director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta. The program is now enrolling student-athletes for the 2026–2027 school year.
