First Tee – Contra Costa offers junior golf programs and golf-based personal growth programs for kids and teens. The program includes educational programs that build character, along with creative activities and instructional programs that incorporate the fundamental teachings of golf.

First Tee – Contra Costa is a youth development organization that enables kids to build the strength of character that empowers them through a lifetime of new challenges. It seamlessly integrates the game of golf with a life skills curriculum and creates active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience. The program is designed to serve as a place for participants to learn valuable life skills and character lessons through creative activities and instructional programs that incorporate the fundamental teachings of golf, with a goal of incorporating responsibility, courtesy, honesty, and integrity into the daily lives of participants. Through golf and its 5 Key Commitments—Pursuing Goals, Growing Through Challenge, Collaborating with Others, Building Positive Self-Identity, and Using Good Judgment—kids and teens learn life skills like making proper introductions, managing emotions, resolving conflicts, setting up step-by-step goals, planning for the future, and appreciating diversity. Its mission is to positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. First Tee – Contra Costa provides affordable access to golf and golf learning facilities for young people in Contra Costa County and Vallejo, from all walks of life, particularly those who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play. First Tee – Contra Costa is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
