First Tee – Contra Costa

First Tee – Contra Costa offers golf along with creative activities for young people. The program includes instructional programs that incorporate the fundamental teachings of golf and is designed to serve as a place for participants to learn life skills and character lessons through these activities.

• Schedule: The best times to attempt a phone call to the program are between 9 am and 2 pm, Monday through Thursday.

First Tee – Contra Costa is a youth development organization whose mission is to positively impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. It focuses on providing affordable access to golf and golf learning facilities for young people in Contra Costa County and Vallejo from all walks of life, particularly those who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play. The program’s goal is to incorporate responsibility, courtesy, honesty, and integrity, which are described as values inherent in the game of golf, into the daily lives of those who participate. It equips youth with skills needed to follow their dreams, advance academically and athletically, strengthen their social abilities, and become productive members of their local community. The First Tee emphasizes 5 Key Commitments: Pursuing Goals, Growing Through Challenge, Collaborating with Others, Building Positive Self-Identity, and Using Good Judgment, and through golf and these commitments, kids and teens learn life skills such as making proper introductions, managing emotions, resolving conflicts, setting up step-by-step goals, planning for the future, and appreciating diversity. First Tee – Contra Costa is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
