Mires Martial Arts offers training in Shorin-Ryu Karate and Kyokushin Karate. Students practice kata, sparring, grappling, and self-defense as part of their classes.

Mires Martial Arts was started by Sensei Geoff Mires, Jr. in March of 2010 at the Walnut Country Clubhouse in Concord and moved to its first official dojo and current location in March of 2012. Sensei Geoff began training in Shorin-Ryu Karate in January of 2000 while attending St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA, and he is a Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) in Shorin-Ryu Karate and a Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) in Kyokushin Karate. A uniform is included with the discounted first month enrollment. Families describe the dojo as an extension of Sensei Geoff’s family, with a supportive and welcoming environment where he emphasizes respect, perseverance, and self-discipline, and they describe classes as fun, engaging, and informative. Parents and grandparents report that their children and grandchildren enjoy learning kata, sparring, grappling, and self-defense, and that they have seen their kids build confidence, discipline, control, and new friendships over multiple years of training.
