About

Tomizaki's Champions Kung Fu Institute offers martial arts training that includes kung fu, self defense, kids classes, teen and adult classes, and self-defense classes. The program also offers lion dance as part of its activities.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Thursday and Saturday during daytime and afternoon hours

The program is led by Master Tomizaki and Steffani Tomizaki. Master Tomizaki was born and raised in Brazil, started practicing kung fu in 1980, and earned black belts in Seven Star Praying Mantis, Choy Lay Fut, and Shuai Chiao, and also trained San Shou and Eagle Claw. He became a sifu in 1997, has been teaching kids, adults, and seniors since 1982, and is an international Grand Champion in full contact fighting, hand forms, and weapons. Steffani Tomizaki started training kung fu in 2000 after an attempted kidnapping by gunpoint, started teaching kung fu in 2004, is an 8th degree black belt with the title of Sifu, and serves on the board of the International Traditional Kung Fu Association. Steffani has competed nationally, has won numerous 1st place awards, has been runner-up Grand Champion twice, and was selected to represent the USA at the 2012 World Chin Woo Championship in Tianjin, China. She has also been teaching self-defense classes for over 13 years.

The program’s stated philosophy is to work to bring out the best in each person, focusing on personal bests and striving to better oneself as a human being. It states a goal that each person walks out at the end of class feeling empowered, better about who they are, aware that they have the ability to help others, and responsible to themselves. Stated benefits from training include increased concentration, better grades, self-confidence, self-control, respect, health, coordination, and improvement in other sports and activities.
