Tomizaki's Champions Kung Fu Institute

Tomizaki's Champions Kung Fu Institute offers kung fu training that includes self defense, kids classes, teen and adult classes, and lion dance. Classes are led by experienced instructors who teach both hand forms and weapons, as well as self-defense skills.

• Schedule: Class options Monday–Thursday and Saturday during daytime and afternoon hours

Master Tomizaki was born and raised in Brazil, started practicing kung fu in 1980, and earned black belts in Seven Star Praying Mantis, Choy Lay Fut, and Shuai Chiao, with additional training in San Shou and Eagle Claw. He became a sifu in 1997, has been teaching kids, adults, and seniors since 1982, and is an international Grand Champion in full contact fighting, hand forms, and weapons. Steffani Tomizaki started training kung fu in 2000 after an attempted kidnapping by gunpoint, began teaching in 2004, holds an 8th degree black belt with the title of Sifu, and serves on the board of the International Traditional Kung Fu Association. She has competed nationally with numerous 1st place awards, has been runner-up Grand Champion twice, was selected to represent the USA at the 2012 World Chin Woo Championship in Tianjin, China, and has been teaching self-defense classes for over 13 years.

The program’s stated philosophy is to work to bring out the best in each person, focusing on personal bests and striving to better oneself as a human being. The program states that it wants each person to finish class feeling empowered, better about who they are, aware of their ability to help others, and responsible to themselves. According to the program, benefits from training include increased concentration, better grades, self-confidence, self-control, respect, health, coordination, and improvement in other sports and activities.
