Rockin’ Robbie’s Music Emporium was started by Robin Eig on Friday the 13th of October, 1995, and Rockin’ Robbie’s has been active in the East Bay since 1995. By 2009, East Bay Music was up for sale and Rockin’ Robbie’s East Bay Music was reborn, and Robin opened her second location in March 2020. Robin is described as the Rockin’ boss-lady extraordinaire. Robin has been in the music business for over 30 years and has experience with band, orchestra, and concert percussion, as well as guitars, ethnic hand drums, and ukuleles. Robin graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and worked as a high school and elementary school band director. Jeff, another staff member, has been playing saxophone for over 15 years and flute and clarinet for 10 years, and has been teaching lessons for over 10 years. Jeff has a Master’s degree in Saxophone Performance from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from CSU Northridge. Jeff has adjudicated Classical and Jazz Nevada All-State saxophone auditions, given clinics at local schools, run master classes, and taught saxophone technique and improvisation for Hayward La-Honda Music Camp. Jeff has been featured as a guest artist at the Elko Jazz Festival and has played with the John Daversa Sextet, Kelly Park Big Band, Rory Snyder Big Band, Reno Jazz Syndicate, and Reno Jazz Orchestra, and is a current member of the Purple Ones Prince tribute band.
