Touyou No Chie Jujitsu Aikido began in April 2010 in the studio of Sylvan Martial Arts. The program is led by Derek Baure Sensei, who was a recent black belt and leader of the group when it started, and Greg Champion, who is quoted speaking about the dojo. Baure Sensei studied Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology at San Jose State and completed a Master's Degree in Kinesiology at St. Mary's College. The Conditioning Class uses workouts and exercises from martial arts and Kinesiology, including plyometrics, cardiovascular work, pilates, circuit training, and punching bag hits.

Aikido in this program is described as a Japanese soft style martial art that uses an opponent’s energy or momentum against them with techniques such as joint manipulation, striking redirection, and weapon disarmament. Danzanryu Jujitsu focuses on efficiency and uses principles like torque and balance so a smaller individual can subdue a larger opponent, with techniques including throws, pins, submissions, sweeps, and takedowns. Aikido Weapons training includes learning and using tools of a samurai such as the katana, jo, and tanto, along with techniques to defend against these weapons. Self-Defense & Ukemi includes Anti-Bully training, weapon defense, street application techniques, and falling, and beginners are welcome; ukemi refers to the technique of falling safely.

The dojo describes itself as having strong roots from the Hawaiian islands, which are described as a mixing pot of Asian culture, and uses phrases such as “a little bit of aloha and a little bit arigato leads to a lot of friends and family” and “here, you’re ohana.” Its mission statement says that the dojo family works together to push limits in a safe environment, with a goal of getting stronger, faster, and more skillful without growing ego, being disrespectful, or inflicting injuries, and that it is not just a dojo to learn self-defense or get fit but a family, or ohana, that has fun and sticks together while growing together. One testimonial states, “Touyou No Chie is not just a dojo - we're a family,” attributed to Greg Champion.

Touyou No Chie has participated in martial arts tournaments and group events such as Gladiator Runs, Spartan Races, beach trainings, bowling events, movie nights, and other outings. Baure Sensei has coached several martial artists, including two silver medalists at the Jujitsu America National Tournament and several gold medalists at the Mokomoko Invitational and Sacramento Valley Championships, and he has earned gold medals in various black belt tournaments himself, including being the 2016 National Sports Jujitsu Champion. The dojo is also described as sharing studio space with Mires Martial Arts under the name Eastern Wisdom Martial Arts and TNC Dojo.
