City of Coronado Aquatics Programs & Swim Lessons offers lap swim, family swim, water exercise, AquaFit and GentleFit classes, city-provided and private swim lessons, a Junior Lifeguard Program, and recreational swimming. The program also offers an Inflatable Obstacle Course available through August 9th, along with aquatics exercise opportunities and program instruction.
• Ages: 0–17 years old
• Schedule: AquaFit classes are held seven days a week at various times, GentleFit is available on Tuesdays and Fridays, city-provided swim lessons run on various days in the morning and afternoon, family swim is currently offered in the recreation pool, and lap swim has limited lanes during specific early morning, midday, evening, and Saturday hours.
• Price: Children who are not toilet trained are required to wear a reusable swim diaper, which may be purchased at the front desk for $10.
The City of Coronado Aquatics Division states that its curriculum follows Red Cross Learn-to-Swim guidelines and that it is committed to training all staff members in the latest skills and techniques in water safety and pool operations. The division notes that a minimum of two lap swim lanes are available during all posted lap swim hours, that lanes are first come, first serve for lap swim, and that swimmers must share lanes by splitting the lane or circle swimming when all lanes are full. The program requires participants to wear provided wristbands during family swim, requires children who are not toilet trained to wear a reusable swim diaper, requires children ages 5 and under to have an adult within arm’s reach in the water and on the pool deck, and does not allow children ages 13 and under to enter the pool deck without an adult present. Daily drop-ins for AquaFit and GentleFit are first-come, first-served, and registration for AquaFit and GentleFit for the same day throughout the month is available online, over the phone, or in person. The division also offers a notification system for pool closures, chemical imbalances, equipment updates, and more via phone or email, and states in its mission that it is dedicated to providing a variety of aquatics programs both fun and challenging in a safe, clean and friendly environment, with staff striving to provide excellent customer service while enhancing the health, fitness and aquatics knowledge of all guests through program instruction, aquatics exercise opportunities and recreational swimming.
