About
City of Coronado Aquatics Programs & Swim Lessons offers lap swim, family swim, recreational swimming, and aquatics exercise opportunities. The program includes AquaFit and GentleFit water exercise classes, city-provided swim lessons, private swim lessons, and a Junior Lifeguard Program. Family swim is currently offered in the recreation pool, and lanes are first come, first serve, with swimmers sharing lanes by splitting the lane or circle swimming when all lanes are full.
• Schedule: Lap swim has limited lanes on Tuesdays from 6:00–7:30am, with additional lap swim times Monday through Friday from 5:00pm–8:00pm (Fridays until 7:00pm) and Saturdays from 7:30am–10:30am; AquaFit classes are held seven days a week at various times; GentleFit classes in April are only available on Tuesdays and Fridays; there is no 12:00pm AquaFit class on Friday, April 3, 2026; city-provided swim lessons are held on various days throughout the week in both the morning and afternoon.
• Price: Children who are not toilet trained are required to wear a reusable swim diaper, which may be purchased at the front desk for $10.
The City of Coronado Aquatics Division states that its curriculum follows Red Cross Learn-to-Swim guidelines and that it is committed to training all staff members in the latest skills and techniques in water safety and pool operations. The division describes its mission as providing a variety of aquatics programs that are fun and challenging in a safe, clean, and friendly environment, with staff striving to provide customer service while enhancing the health, fitness, and aquatics knowledge of guests through program instruction, aquatics exercise opportunities, and recreational swimming. Participants must wear provided wristbands during family swim, children under 8 years old require an adult within arm's reach in the water and on the pool deck, and children under age 14 may not enter the pool deck without an adult present. Daily drop-ins for AquaFit and GentleFit classes are first-come, first-served, and registration for the same day throughout the month (such as all Mondays in a given month) is available online, over the phone, or in person. The program also offers a notification system where families can register a phone number or email address to receive information about pool closures, chemical imbalances, equipment updates, and related changes.
