Coronado Yacht Club Summer Sailing runs Summer Sailing 2026 with member registration opening March 9 at 9:00 AM and non-member registration opening April 9 at 9:00 AM, and member registrations are restricted to members’ children or grandchildren and are charged directly to the member’s club account. The program includes options such as Fishing Class, Scallywags, Bronze – Beginner Sabot (which requires sailors to be comfortable swimming with a life jacket), Silver, Gold BIC / Skiff, Afternoon Venture Camp (which requires enrollment in a morning sailing class), Explore the Bay – All Day Adventure using Harbor 20s, Sabots, BICs, and FJs, Teen Double-Handed with an end-of-week sail to The Landing, FJ Race Team training for FJ Nationals at Coronado Yacht Club, Sabot Race Team with multiple summer regattas, and Sabot Nationals Prep and Nationals Training. Sabot Race Team activities include participation in the Sabot Gold Cup in Newport, Under II Qualifier at SWYC, Under II Championships at CYC, Dutch Shoe from SDYC to CYC, and Sabot Nationals, and sailors must have their own Sabot for Sabot Nationals because club boats do not qualify.

Each day, participants are expected to bring plenty of water, a towel, a swimsuit worn under clothes, sunscreen applied before arrival, a Coast Guard-approved life jacket that fits properly, and water shoes, and life jackets and water shoes must be worn at all times during camp. The stated cancellation policy is that all classes are non-refundable, and if a class is canceled a credit valid for one year will be issued, with a full credit for a future class if canceled at least 14 days before the class starts and no refund after that. The program is led by Junior Sailing Director Jill Powell.

Coronado Yacht Club has existed since 1932 and states that its main reason for existence is to work for the benefit of Coronado, to develop Glorietta Bay as a yacht harbor, attract yachtsmen to the harbor, and encourage yachting in San Diego Bay, with a stated hope that the same spirit of hospitality, high purpose, and cooperation that has been a basic principle of the club since its organization will continue. The club reports having over 1,200 members, offering world-class regattas, one-design racing, fine and casual dining experiences, live music, and private events, and notes that members and guests of Coronado Yacht Club and reciprocal yacht clubs can visit the historical yacht club to enjoy traditions and camaraderie.
