About
Coronado Baptist Child Care and Preschool offers a daily schedule that includes a teaching period, playtime, breakfast, snack, lunch, and nap time. Children take part in extensive art programs, music, gymnastics, and dance, including Ballet, Kinder-dance, and Kid-Tastic. The program operates with supervised play and rest times built into the day.
• Ages: 6 weeks–12 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 6:30am–6:00pm year-round, with flexible Summer Session and options from a few hours on some days to full-day, five-day care
Coronado Baptist Child Care and Preschool has been serving families since 1972 as a child care and preschool program based on Christian principles communicated at a child's level. The program uses a Scholastic academic curriculum that is combined with age-appropriate Christian education and developmental activities. The Child Care Center operates all day on weekdays (except for a few major holidays) and serves breakfast, a hot lunch, and two snacks, with nutritious meals and snacks prepared daily by a chef and conforming to the State of California Child Nutrition Programs.
Trained and experienced teachers provide multi-lingual education, with Spanish taught in parallel to English. The center accommodates families of many different faiths, and church membership is not required, including for a 25% discount available to regular attenders of Coronado Southern Baptist Church. The Director, Martha Prysock, has worked with Coronado Elementary School and the Baptist Church program for decades, and is listed as the school director and contact for the program.
The Child Care Center includes a security system, air conditioning, multiple classrooms, and a large enclosed and supervised outdoor playground. A new closed circuit security camera system is in place, and a loading zone in front of the facility is available for drop-off and pick-up. The center states that it supports diversity and community and is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
One parent reports that staff assist with potty training and allow parents to supply diapers, and that classical music and lullabies are played during nap time. Parents describe classrooms filled with children’s artwork and educational materials, a sandy playground with swings, tricycles, basketball, and slides, and a dining hall where children are served meals. Testimonials mention children learning ABCs, reading, basic math, the Pledge of Allegiance, independent play, stop-drop-roll, circle time, and cutting with child scissors, as well as participation in graduation activities such as a rendition of an Alvin and the Chipmunks rock and roll song and a luau dance.
