Coronado Academy Of Dance offers classes in Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Pointe, Tap, and combination classes such as ballet/tap and ballet/hip hop for younger dancers. The program also includes Boogie Babies, Tutu Time, DanceFUNdamentals, private lessons, and birthday parties that feature a brief ballet class, movement games, a cupcake picnic, party favors, fancy tutus, and tiaras for dancers to decorate and keep. Coronado Academy Of Dance has been providing dance education since 1998 and has been serving both children and adults for over 25 years. The studio states that it represents a positive learning environment where dancers can have fun, be creative, and experience dance, and that it encourages dancers to take the disciplines of dance into their everyday lives to build self-confidence, poise, and self-esteem. The leadership team includes Creative Director and Instructor Miranda Giles (Jazz/Ballet/Acro/Lyrical), Instructor and Creative Director Dawn Tyler, Instructor Megan Nicotera (Adult/Ballet), Instructor Shantel Mora (Ballet/DanceFUNdamentals), Instructor Alli Zielinski (Boogie Babies/Tutu Time/DanceFUNdamentals), and Instructor Erica Tarasoff (Hip-Hop). Coronado Academy Of Dance notes that it employs instructors with a well-rounded background of training, performance, and teaching experience and is staffed by experienced, professional instructors.

Instructor credentials include: Miranda Giles, who trained under Shir Lee Wu at Columbus City Ballet School, a recipient of Youth America Grand Prix (YAGP) outstanding school and teacher awards; trained at The School of American Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, and the Kirov Ballet under significant or full scholarships; received the YAGP “Hope Award” twice; studied with the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago under full scholarship; joined Los Angeles Ballet and later Golden State Ballet, where she was promoted to Soloist in 2021 and Principal Dancer in 2024. Instructor Shantel Mora received a BA in Dance Education with a focus on classical ballet from Escuela Superior de Música y Danza de Monterrey; became a certified teacher by American Ballet Theatre in 2019; was selected to attend a teacher training in the Opera of Paris in 2024; is pursuing a professional certification from The Flamenco School of Andalucia; holds a certificate in “Economics Administration for the Arts” by CONARTE and a diploma in “Organizational Analysis” by Stanford University; and finished an Associate of Science in Business Management in May 2024. Instructor Alli Zielinski has been dancing for over 20 years; trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and pointe; is a member of the tap company California Rhythm Project; has danced abroad in Sydney, Australia with Issa Dance Company; attended and performed at the American College Dance Association at Arizona State University, UC Irvine, and Cal State Long Beach; and has taught dance to preschool through eighth grade students in Vista Unified School District, Fallbrook Union School District, and elementary schools on Camp Pendleton. Instructor Dawn Tyler started dancing at age 7, trained at Ballet Society and California Ballet, performed regularly with California Ballet in productions including The Nutcracker, Midsummer’s Night Dream, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Dracula, and La Bayadere, received a summer intensive scholarship to study with Joffrey Ballet School in New York, was crowned Miss Coronado 1992, and opened Coronado Academy Of Dance at age 25.

The studio notes that it has one of the biggest indoor spaces available for movement in Coronado and that it shares its love for dance with the community. It invites people who are not dancers to ask about volunteer opportunities or how to make a donation to support the studio. Coronado Academy Of Dance also offers private lessons with an instructor throughout the season and accepts enrollments all year long, with first month tuition pro-rated from the start date and participation in the Spring recital for dancers enrolling after April 1st at the instructor’s discretion.
